Indiana Hunter Education Certification
The Legacies staff is very excited to assist the Indiana Department of Natural Resources with the Indiana Hunter Education Program. Each season, Backwater Legacies offers Indiana Hunter Education courses to the public for certifications required to obtain hunting licenses. The classes are free to everyone and are generally given in the spring.
Students attending the Youth Hunter’s Academy in June will automatically receive training for their Indiana Hunter Ed Certification. The course work is distributed evenly throughout the week and includes live fire sessions at the range.
We’ll Bring Hunter Education to You!
If the date and location of courses are not listed in your area, Backwater Legacies Inc. is able to take the show on the road. We can present the Indiana Hunter Education course at your local club or classroom at a time that is convenient for you and your group. Please call in advance to discuss the opportunities.
“They have found exciting ways to guide their students to a life sport of hunting, a love of Indiana’s natural resources and a general respect of the out of doors and all of its gifts. They have developed a unique Youth Hunter’s Academy to introduce youth to outdoor skills and to build on those skills each year they attend. They use the shooting sports as a pathway to involve youth in church activities and they have found innovative methods to instill leadership qualities in all their participants.
They have been named Teaching Team of the Year for their operational district three of the past seven years. To be named is an honor; to be named multiple times is extraordinary.”
